William Ridgway PERSIAN Blue Transfer 18” Well & Tree Meat
Platter c. 1830
Offering a beautiful 18” Well & Tree
meat platter by William Ridgway in the Persian pattern, c. 1830. This medium blue
on white transfer print depicts a prominent urn with flowers on one side and a vessel
with sails, buildings and mountains on the other. The thick border has delicate
flowers and leaves with fanned shells on a scalloped rim. The reverse shows the
printed mark with urn and beehive

Measures 18 5/8” long x 15” wide x 1
5/8” high
Platter is in very good condition for
its age and is free from any major chips, cracks or restorations: there are
some small marks in the well and bottom, a small smooth chip on the glaze on
the upper rim, as well as some minor roughness and wear around the rim. There
is scratching from prior use, though does not detract from this beautiful
platter, please see all photos
