Spare Outboard Boat Ignition Key All Years Evinrude OMC BRP Replacement Starter

These keys are NOT blanks and are pre-cut based on a particular SERIES and NUMBER.  If you know which series AND number you need please include a note with your PayPal payment (they have a designated box), send us a message through eBay messenger.  If you know which series you need, but don’t know which number it is please DO NOT place an order until you know both the SERIES and NUMBER.
If you lost your key and do not know what key number you need, you can look on the ignition switch to see if there are any numbers stamped on it.  If you cannot find any numbers stamped on the switch then you will have to replace the switch.  WE ARE NOT ABLE TO LOOK UP YOUR KEY NUMBER BASED ON A MOTOR MAKE/MODEL.
This sale is for one (1) ignition key for Evinrude and Johnson Outboard motors made from 1955 to current. They have used 4 different series of ignition keys over the years. All of their original keys have a number stamped into the key for easy identification.

Each key series will have additional pictures and info below and these will be shown from oldest to current. Keep scrolling down until you find your series.
KF SERIES USED UP TO 1972
Starting with the KF Series keys made/stamped Chicago Lock. These were found in both DASH mounted and control box ignition switches that had a silver color cylinder with the KF key number stamped into it and a silver color retaining nut and the same switch. They were used from mid 1950’s until 1972 and were numbered from 1-100.
NOTE:Currently we do not have key #’s KF21, KF56 &KF75
73 SERIES PISTOL GRIP KEYS USED 1973-1977
The 73 Pistol Grip Key Series came out in 1973 and were used mostly in control boxes that had a seperate choke switch from the ignition(not push to choke). These were made/stamped Pollak. The ignition switch these were used in could be identified by its white nylon flange where the key was inserted. The key number was stamped into this flange but most are worn away by now. These had a number range from 1-35.
77 SERIES USED 1978-1995
The 77 Key Series were also made by Pollak. These were used in push to choke ignition switches. These switches could be identified by a black nylon flange where the key was inserted and these also had the key number stamped into the flange but from use many of these numbers have worn away by now. Even on a new switch as shown directly below it is hard to read the #51 for the key number.
These ignition keys /switches were used by many boat manufactures where the ignition switch was dash mounted or control box mounted. If you look at the one picture below you will see a key in a black boot and a loose boot. To find your key number for these you will have to pull the key out of the boot (tip- use a little rubbing alcohol to make slippery and it will pop right out). Black boot not included with keys.
96 SERIES USED 1996 – CURRENT
Series 96 is the most current key set made and are still in use today. These were originaly offered in 7 numbers: 70, 71, 72, 75, 76, 77 & 79 but 70, 71, and 72 are no longer available. The key number for these is stamped on the ignition switch at location as shown directly below in picture.
